Lisa Carter Grist, born Cardiff, 1972 is an artist living and working in North Wales working predominantly with painting and drawing in an improvisational way. Deliberately keeping her process and subject matter open, painting for her allows the unending collision of events, thoughts and experiences to turn into something transformed through the merging of the intuitive and the observed.

Her works often evoke shifting and dissolving movement and the dynamic processes of nature.

‘I deliberately place myself in an uncertain position when working, it is the associativity of painted and drawn marks that triggers my imagination.  It is the adventurousness of this process that inspires me.’

Lisa holds a BA (Theatre Design) from Central Saint Martin’s (1994). Her paintings have been selected for the Beep Painting Biennale (2020) and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (2019 and 2015) and the National Eisteddfod of Wales, 2019, 2013 and 2009. She has exhibited at Somerset House, Utopia, 2016, MOSTYN, Mail Art 2019 and received two Arts Council of Wales awards, (2012, 2011).
